Description
This year, the Performing Arts Camp will be held at the Alfred Hines Seaside Camp, with its own private beach and look out over Garden Island. This camp will take place over the first weekend of Term 2 and is open to any student in a Secondary College Music Ensemble, and selected Drama and Dance students.
In the past, this has been one of the most enjoyable and productive events of the year for the Music students and this year we will be working in collaboration with some of the Drama and Dance students as well. The camp is a time of friendship forming and community building and the purpose is to introduce and rehearse musical items that will feature in our Term 3 Performing Arts Showcase [previously the Evening of Music]. The theme this year is “Stage and Screen” and will feature music, drama and dance items from musicals and musical or dance movies.
Students in Years 7 – 12 who are members of the ensembles listed below are strongly encouraged to attend the camp, in order to begin preparations for the upcoming Arts Showcase.
Students in Years 11 & 12 who are undertaking a Certificate III in Music Industry are required to attend the camp as part of their nominal course hours. If they are not able to attend, a valid reason must be supplied by a parent or guardian in writing and they will need to make these hours up in another way.
Transport is provided for one-way only. The College bus will take us there on Friday, May 3 at 12 midday. Parents will need to pick up your child/ren from the camp-site on Sunday, May 5 at 10 am.
